New selection of religious metals paired with colorful stones.

I have always been attracted to religious images like the ones found on these metals purchased from a church gift shop 

in San Antonio. I even had them blessed and sprinkled with holy water by the padre for good measure. If you have ever read the story of Catholic Saints you would ask for blessings and protection too. I am happy to customize the stones for a more personal and unique necklace.

A very special thank you to Andrea at Speak. Heart. History. 

As it turns out a lot of thought goes into a tag. For example the size of the tag, lettering style, ink color, paper selection, hole size and placement...well you get the idea. Andrea helped me work it out then made it happen. I appreciate greatly how this improves the presentation of Jewelry by Rose.

Summer is a great time to travel and have fun!

We are always making new pieces and finding inspiration everywhere we go.

 

On a recent trip to New York City I visited the MET and saw some amazing ancient Egyptian jewelry. These examples of craft and skill are astounding. Many of these pieces could be worn today and look totally new and inovative. 

Currently showing at the MET Punk: Chaos to Couture. This show examines many things about the influence of punk in high fashion. It seems every magazine I pick up features an article about this exhibit and the questions it brings up. Is punk dead? Was it ever? Is it an idea verses a look? Or like the Egyptians jewelry was something brought into the world that still is relevant and thought provoking?

The exhibition design in Chaos to Couture is amazing and shows a reflection of fashion culture from the recent past and today. Red carpet and runway looks paired with slowed footage of punk legends such as the Sex Pistols and Blondie set the stage for fashion and street culture.

In the works! One really fun part about making jewelry is looking at all the beads and thinking about combinations and placement.

Of course the other fun part is watching woman try things on and decide they just can't live without a piece. JOY!!
